Professor Pedro teaches over 100 students in Houston

Professor Pedro Valente visited, Valente Brothers Black Belt Roy Cantu’s, school in Houston, Texas for a series of seminars and belt promotions. The school has been growing exponentially in the last couple years using the Valente Brothers instructional method for both, adults and children.

Professor Pedro, was once again impressed with the technical level of all students and congratulated  Head Instructor Roy Cantu for the fine job he is doing in maintaining the Valente Brothers methodology and philosophies in Houston, Texas. Instructor Roy trained for over 10 years before receiving his Instructor’s Black Belt.

Rickson Gracie is in town

Rickson Gracie visited Valente Brothers and watched tonight’s sparring class. Rickson, demonstrating his great carisma, greeted all the 40 plus students that were in attendance and thanked everyone for the warm welcome.

The sold out seminar will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Rener Gracie connects the Triangle

On Friday, March 30, Professor Rener Gracie, from the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California and Grandmaster Hélio Gracie’s grandson visited Valente Brothers and offered a special and free Triangle workshop to all Valente Brothers students. The 2 hour seminar covered a varitety of details to improve the application of the traingle choke from the guard postion. Valente Brothers students packed the mats and the class was a total success.
Note – Next weekend Master Rickson Gracie will be joining us for a rare 2 day seminar. 

Gui Valente in Guatemala

On Friday professor Gui Valente arrived in Guatemala City for the first time to teach exclusive seminars to Roberto Fleischmann’s students. Gracie Guatemala is a school of self-defense that follows 100% the methodology of the Valente Brothers. Black Belt Instructor Roberto Fleischmann brought Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to Guatemala and has been a student of Royce Gracie and the Valente Brothers for over 15 years.  Professor Pedro has been teaching in Guatemala at least once a year since 2003 and since then, there has been a very strong connection between Valente Brothers and Gracie Guatemala.

Professor Gui, taught a special class to US Navy Seals stationed in the country. The American operatives are there to help train Guatemalan forces to fight drug cartels. On Saturday, Gui taught two seminars. The first, a 4 hours seminar that covered striking and clinching techniques, takedowns, grappling and the Jiu-JItsu philosophy. Lastly, Professor Valente taught a fun and instructional youth class. Gui was very impressed with the high level of all students, “Professor Fleischmann and all students are doing a great job and I really felt like home, I hope to be back very soon.” 

Rickson Gracie Seminar April 7th & 8th

Master Rickson Gracie will return to Miami to teach a 2 day seminar.  Valente Brothers students around the world will once again be attending the event. The seminar will take place on April 7th and 8th. The 2 day seminar will consist of 6 hours, including technical training, drills, Jiu-Jitsu philosophy and a Q&A session.  Due to the high demand of this special and rare opportunity registration will initilly be for both days only.  Since the announcement that Rickson would teach in Miami was made, many students from other schools all around the US and even other countries have contacted Valente Brothers to secure a spot in the seminar. Currently, we are only accepting registrations from Valente Brothers students. The deadline to register for Valente Brothers students is March 3. Students from other schools are currently being placed on a waiting list and will be selected on a first come first serve basis.

Rickson, son of Helio Gracie, was born into Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. At fifteen he started to teach the art, and by eighteen he received his black belt from his father. When he was twenty years old he was selected to represent the Gracie family in one of the family’s most important challenge fights against the famous 230-pound Brazilian brawler Zulu. Rickson, in an amazing display of technique and mettle, defeated Zulu, who until that time had enjoyed a 140-match, undefeated record. With this victory, Rickson gained immediate national acclaim as the top fighter in the world, leaving his mark on the history of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and the Gracie challenge. Five years later Zulu requested a rematch and lost to Rickson again, in Maracanazinho before an audience of 20,000 spectators.

Rickson is a 7th Degree Red and Black Belt, whose technique is considered to be the finest expression of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in the world. His innate talent and early mastery of the art have resulted in an impeccable undefeated record in more than 400 fights.
